South Pacific Helicopters are based in Kaikōura and a proudly locally owned and operated family business offering premium packages showcasing the very best of the region in Kaikōura and beyond.

South Pacific Helicopters offer custom developed one-of-a-kind adventures and invite you to experience Kaikōura’s amazing marine wildlife, picturesque landscapes and meet some of the people that make this coastal town so unique.

Hero experiences include the iconic whale watching scenic flights over the stunning Kaikōura peninsula.   South Pacific Helicopters have partnered with a marine biologist Dr Krista Van Der Linde to share her vast knowledge of the whales and other local marine species that call the Kaikōura canyon home.

Indulgent experiences such as Meet the Distillery, a gin tasting co-hosted by Mt Fyffe Distillery that takes you to the mountain of the same name.  Whilst you sip enjoy panoramic views of the Kaikōura coastline.   For foodies a partnership with boutique Cookery school Hapuku Kitchen offers a journey of exploration over the incredible Kaikōura canyon, viewing the abundant marine and bird wildlife before being met by Fiona Read, owner and Chef who will show guests around her kitchen, farm and garden before enjoying a delicious lunch.  Hapuku Kitchen is also represented by Unique Stays & Experiences.

Description

South Pacific Helicopters is a local, family owned and operated company. Dan and Monique Stevenson first opened this company in October of 2016. Unfortunately, a few short weeks later, a major earthquake struck Kaikōura, completely cutting off access to the town, and changing the landscape forever. Daniel and the South Pacific employees were invaluable to the recovery and provide relief effort, working tirelessly on the rebuild to restore access to the town of Kaikōura.

After a year and a day, roads once again opened to Kaikōura, and tourism returned to the town. Our goal is to share the beauty of Kaikōura, as well as the local marine life which make this place one of the best in the world for marine wildlife encounters. With every tour we convey our passion for this beautiful place and offer exceptional customer service to provide one-of-a-kind and unforgettable experiences.
